Description

This creamy mac & cheese is the ultimate comfort food that warms your heart and brings everyone together.


Ingredients

For the Pasta:

  • 2 cups elbow macaroni

For the Cheese Sauce:

  • 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup Monterey Jack cheese, shredded
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • Salt and pepper to taste

For the Topping:

  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs

Instructions

For the Pasta:

  1. 1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a rolling boil.
  2. 2. Add elbow macaroni and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

For the Cheese Sauce:

  1. 1. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt butter.
  2. 2. Whisk in flour until smooth and bubbly (about 1 minute).
  3. 3. Gradually pour in milk while stirring continuously until thickened and creamy.
  4. 4. Remove from heat and stir in cheddar and Monterey Jack cheese until completely melted. Season with salt and pepper.

For Assembly:

  1. 1. Add cooked macaroni to the cheese sauce, stirring until evenly coated.
  2. 2. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and pour mac & cheese into a greased baking dish.
  3. 3. Smooth out the top and sprinkle panko breadcrumbs evenly over it.
  4. 4. Bake for 25–30 minutes or until bubbly and golden brown.
