Ingredients
Scale
For the Dough:
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
- 1 cup warm milk (about 110°F)
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter (melted)
For the Filling:
- 3/4 cup cookie butter
Instructions
For the Dough:
- 1. In a large mixing bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
- 2. In another bowl, whisk together flour, salt, and cinnamon. Gradually add this mixture to the yeast mixture.
- 3. Use your hands to mix until a soft dough forms.
- 4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- 5. Place the kneaded dough in an oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and allow it to rise in a warm place until doubled in size (about 1 hour).
For the Filling:
- 6. Once risen, punch down the dough and roll it out into a rectangle (about half an inch thick).
- 7. Spread melted butter over the surface of the dough and then generously spread the cookie butter filling on top.
- 8. Starting from one end, tightly roll up the dough into a log shape. Slice into pieces (about 2 inches each) and place them in a greased baking dish.
- 9. Cover again and let rise until puffy (approximately another hour).
- To Bake:
- 10. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake for about 25 minutes or until golden brown on top.
- 11. Allow to cool slightly before serving warm.
