For the Dough:

- 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup whole milk, warmed
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

- 2 tbsp freshly ground cardamom pods
Instructions
For the Dough:
- 1. Warm the milk in a saucepan until steaming but not boiling. Remove from heat and stir in the active dry yeast and a teaspoon of sugar. Let sit for five minutes until bubbly.
- 2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, remaining sugar, salt, and ground cardamom.
- 3. Once the yeast mixture is frothy, add it along with softened butter to the dry ingredients. Mix until combined into a soft dough.
- 4. Transfer the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about ten minutes until smooth and elastic. Place it in an oiled bowl, cover with plastic wrap or a damp cloth, and let rise in a warm place until doubled in size—about one hour.
- 5. Punch down the risen dough and roll it out into a rectangle about half an inch thick. Cut strips of dough and twist them into knots or rolls.
- 6. Place shaped buns onto a parchment-lined baking sheet and allow them to rise again for thirty minutes while preheating your oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake for approximately twenty minutes or until golden brown.
